Year 5 Humanities
grades with an expert one-on-one tutor in
Ryde
Our tutors will teach Year 5 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they develop a comprehensive understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics. By the end of Year 5, students explain the causes behind the establishment of British colonies in Australia and the roles of significant individuals and groups in shaping the nation. They analyse how human activities influence environments and how Australian democracy enables civic participation. Students explore how resources meet needs and wants and evaluate the management of Australian spaces. They develop skills in questioning, gathering and interpreting information, and presenting evidence-based conclusions.
History:
Year 5 students learn about the economic, political, and social causes of British colonisation in Australia and its impact on First Nations Australians and settlers. They study the roles of key figures, including First Nations Australians, convicts, and settlers, in the development of early Australian colonies. Students explore the consequences of colonisation on daily life, environment, and the development of communities.
Geography:
Students examine how people influence the characteristics of places, including through resource use and management. They learn about sustainable practices and the effects of environmental changes, such as land use, urban development, and climate events like droughts and floods. They also study the traditional practices of First Nations Australians in managing their Country/Place.
Civics and Citizenship:
Students investigate the key values and features of Australia's democracy, such as freedom of speech, voting, and civic responsibilities. They learn about the roles of local government and how community members collaborate to achieve civic goals. Students also discuss how people contribute to their communities through volunteering and active participation.
Economics and Business:
Students explore the different types of resources—natural, human, and capital—and how they satisfy needs and wants. They learn to distinguish between needs and wants, understand the factors of production, and consider how resources can be used sustainably for future needs.
Skills:
Students develop inquiry skills by asking questions about historical events, geographical changes, and civic responsibilities. They gather information from primary and secondary sources, including maps, timelines, and photographs, and organise their findings using charts and reports. They analyse data to identify trends, draw evidence-based conclusions, and propose actions for community issues. Students communicate their ideas effectively using subject-specific language and appropriate formats.

Absolutely! Students are able to choose online or in-person tutoring. We serve our customers in what ever way best works for them.
To start tutoring with Apex, please fill out this form. One of our Operations Managers will receive and process it. They will get all the necessary details from you and then begin the process of finding the perfect tutor for you.
Tutoring can happen anywhere based on your individual needs. We have tutors that can travel to your home or a nearby meeting spot. Alternatively, if you prefer or if we have no tutors in the area, we can arrange online tutoring. All tutors are trained to use online tools to maintain tutoring quality.
Currently, we are providing in-person tutoring services in Melbourne and Sydney. Additionally, we have online tutoring offerred for students in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
We recommend that tutoring occurs once a week. This allows the tutor and the student to get to know each other well and form a bond. However, the frequency of tutoring is completely up to you. If you would prefer to have multiple sessions a week or just need a tutor once a month, that can also be arranged.
Private tutoring is extremely effective for all types of students. The major benefit of private tutoring is the personalised, one-on-one support. Often in schools, a teacher has to teach 20+ students at once, as a result, if you miss something or fall behind it can be tough to catch up. With a private tutor, students can learn at their own pace, take time to explore new topics and ask as many questions as they want.
Whether you are a top achiever striving for the best marks or a student who is just looking to keep up, private tutoring with Apex Tuition Australia provides an intimate learning environment that builds confidence, promotes curiosity and improves grades.
At Apex Tuition Australia, the cost of tutoring depends on the student's age and preference of location. There are four different prices:
Further, if you want to purchase a package of lessons, we can give you a discount! For full details, please check out our pricing page.

Yes, all of our tutors are familiar with the current curriculum. We recognise how important it is that your tutor is an expert in the curriculum they are teaching.
Each curriculum in Australia is slightly different and has its own nuances that are important for the tutor to know. We will always endeavour to match you with a tutor who is intimately familiar with the curriculum your child is completing.
At the moment, we have tutors who have completed the VCE, HSC, QCE, SACE, WACE and IB.
For younger year levels, we will endeavour to find a tutor who has completed the same course but this is less vital.

At Apex Tuition Australia, we offer a first session satisfaction guarantee! This means if you are not happy with your first session, we will give you a 100% refund and find you another tutor. For full details on the first sessions satisfaction guarantee, you can read out terms and conditions here.
