Clayton
Our tutors will teach Year 9 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they develop an in-depth understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics. By the end of Year 9, students analyse the causes and effects of significant events, explore geographical processes, and understand the roles and responsibilities within Australia’s political and legal systems. They investigate the interdependence of global economies, the impact of trade, and the importance of sustainable practices. Students develop skills in research, critical analysis, and presenting well-supported arguments on various social, political, and economic topics.
History:
Year 9 students study the period from 1750 to 1918, focusing on the Industrial Revolution, European imperial expansion, and the significant global movements of people, including the impact of these changes on Australia. They learn about the causes and effects of World War I, the experiences of Australians during the war, and the broader social and political impacts of these historical events. The curriculum emphasises analysing different perspectives and understanding the consequences of imperialism and nationalism during this time.
Geography:
Students explore "Biomes and food security" and "Geographies of interconnections." They study the characteristics of various biomes and their importance for food production, examining the impact of human activities on these environments. They analyse the challenges of achieving food security and sustainable practices. Additionally, students investigate how global connections, such as trade and tourism, shape places and environments, focusing on the interconnections between Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Civics and Citizenship:
Students delve into Australia’s federal system of government, the role of the Constitution, and the legislative process. They explore the structure and function of the Australian court system, understanding how laws are applied and interpreted. The curriculum also addresses global citizenship, examining how Australia’s interactions with other nations shape its society and influence civic participation. Students study the role of the media in shaping identity and attitudes toward diversity.
Economics and Business:
Year 9 students investigate the dynamics of international trade, focusing on Australia’s economic relationships with Asian countries. They learn about the role of Australia’s financial sector in shaping economic decisions and how businesses maintain competitive advantages. The curriculum covers strategies for managing financial risks and rewards, helping students understand the complexities of economic decision-making and the benefits of global interdependence.

We recommend that tutoring occurs once a week. This allows the tutor and the student to get to know each other well and form a bond. However, the frequency of tutoring is completely up to you. If you would prefer to have multiple sessions a week or just need a tutor once a month, that can also be arranged.
Private tutoring is extremely effective for all types of students. The major benefit of private tutoring is the personalised, one-on-one support. Often in schools, a teacher has to teach 20+ students at once, as a result, if you miss something or fall behind it can be tough to catch up. With a private tutor, students can learn at their own pace, take time to explore new topics and ask as many questions as they want.
Whether you are a top achiever striving for the best marks or a student who is just looking to keep up, private tutoring with Apex Tuition Australia provides an intimate learning environment that builds confidence, promotes curiosity and improves grades.
